2159 Centre Ave.

Status: Predevelopment

In July 2019, the URA issued a Request for Qualifications from one or more
developers or development teams to participate in the revitalization of various
scattered sites along Centre Avenue in the Middle Hill neighborhood of the City of
Pittsburgh. Amani submitted a proposal for 2159 Centre Ave. and was awarded.
2159 Centre Ave. will help address the ongoing shortage of affordable rental units
in Pittsburgh through the development of 12 affordable rental units for 80% or less
AMI renter households. The project consists of the acquisition of three (3) blighted
parcels and the new construction of a mixed-use development with ~1,700 sq. ft. of
retail space on the ground floor and three floors of affordable residential units (12
units total). 6 units are reserved for households that are special needs, 6 units are
reserved for households escaping homelessness, and 2 units are ADA-compliant.
Throughout construction the project will create approx. 50 direct and indirect jobs.
Once constructed, the project will also create 5 full-time jobs in the tenant occupied
commercial space as well as one full-time supervisor for the building and at least 2
other part-time jobs.
2159 Centre Ave. is in alignment with the Greater Hill District Master Plan and
aims to provide new housing opportunities for existing residents, enhance and
activate the Centre Ave. corridor, and support local businesses.

This new commercial space will be delivered in 2025.
